We March through the Darkness, where the Shadow dwells and where our ancestors came to die.
We are mad.
This will be the last letter I can send. The supply lines have been cut, and the wall seems a lifetime away. For a thousand years we have fought these beasts, and now we march into the teeth of their lair, waiting for them to close the trap. O-Ushi leads us, her face grim.
This is the purpose for which we were born. No other clan in the Empire knows as much of these lands as we. We must lead them and show the way.
March beside me, children of Hida, and let us die as we have lived: with tetsubos in our hands and courage in our hearts.
