Shadowlands Horde Letter - #11

The Empire calls us the Lost. I accept that name with honor, for truly we are lost. We wander this world, confused and out of place. Together, we shall return to our true place, the place our Dark Lord always intended.

Did I not promise you victory?

Did I not promise that we would spit in the face of our enemies?

Stand upon the Kaiu Wall with me, and know that this is only the first step to a truer, purer Empire. An Empire that acknowledges the truth of its origins. We are not deluded as the rest are. We can look upon Rokugan, see its beauty and grandeur, see the great things that the Clans have created, and respect them equally with the accomplishments of the Shadowlands. This is why we have not destroyed the Kaiu Wall. Why tear down such a work of engineering genius when it can be put to our use?

This is merely an example of the truth that we recognize and that the Great Clans fail to see. We do not pick and choose among the Kami; we acknowledge them all. One above all - Fu Leng, the architect of Rokugan.

Meditate upon this truth, one which the Great Clans refuse to recognize: where would the Empire be without Fu Leng? Where would they be without the Dark Brother’s corruption to inspire them? Like the lash that drives the beast, like the fire that turns raw metal into steel, we are the true source of Rokugan’s strength. As the servants and heirs of Fu Leng we are thus the heirs of Rokugan’s great architect. The Empire, and everything that lies within it, rightfully belongs to us.

The Great Clans grow, so that we may harvest.

Now, stand at my side, my Lost brothers and sisters. Hold your children close, gather together, and enjoy the fruits of our labor as we gaze out from the majesty of the Kaiu Wall.

One day, all of Rokugan will be as beautiful as this.

Daigotsu
Lord of the Shadowlands
