Ronin Letter - #4
To those who follow me,
Your ancestors look upon you with pride, regardless of what others may tell you. Once, this Empire was a place where men of strength and courage could act without fear or regret and do what was right. There was a time when the weak were pushed aside so that the strong could rule justly and wisely.
That time has passed. Rokugan is crippled by cowards and weaklings. When threatened, our leaders back down rather than risk conflict or a loss of face. When faced with strength, they react with fear and destroy that which they perceive as a threat to their own power. They call men such as me a butcher and a traitor when all I have done is punish the weak and undeserving. They fear me.
Each of you has seen through the web of lies and deceit they have spun around me. You recognize that I, like you, have the strength to seize my destiny. What does it matter what colors I wear? They would cast me out? No! I deny them! They are unworthy of my loyalty. My loyalty is only to myself, and to those of you with the courage and conviction to recognize that only through action can the Empire be saved.
I have heard the tales, as you no doubt have. A man of unshakable will and boundless vision has begun a campaign that will unite Rokugan and bring peace. Those who join him will be protected, and those who oppose him will be crushed. This is the strength our ancestors knew. This is the strength we must show.
I will travel to the Crab lands. I will meet this man myself. If the tales are true, then I shall ride at his side when the Empire falls to him, and those who have wronged us will fear the name Junnosuke now and for all eternity.
