Ronin Letter - #7

Brothers and Sisters of the Sword,

We have suffered a grave loss, my friends. Our home, the province with which our family has been charged with protecting since its inception, has been destroyed. Many lives were saved thanks to the protection offered by the Sword of Yotsu, but many, many more were lost. The enemy was too great, and our numbers were too few. Now all of Otosan Uchi has been overrun. The Lion have determined that the city is cursed, and have decided that the ruins must be razed. It seems the overzealous champion of that militant clan believes the city is a beacon for the Shadowlands, and he would rather destroy it than stand fast and protect it.

We will abandon the Imperial City.

It is obvious to me now that my arrogance has cost us dearly. In the past, I have turned away capable and talented warriors because of perceived faults in their style or character that I felt made them unworthy to serve alongside the Sword of Yotsu. If not for my conceit, perhaps we would have been strong enough to protect the city. I cannot erase this mistake from my past, but I can remove it from our future.

To all members of the Sword of Yotsu, I ask you to send any trusted ronin among you to the ruins of Otosan Uchi. There, our work continues as we oversee the remnants of our once great home. We will continue to train new members, and we will continue to protect anyone who chooses to remain within the walls. That the city no longer exists does not mean that our duty has disappeared as well. We will rebuild. We will grow stronger. We will endure. Along with the Legion of the Wolf, we will scour the Taint from the once mighty city.

Otosan Uchi may be dead, but any who try to desecrate its grave will find it well protected.

Yotsu Seou
Daimyo of the Yotsu
