A malevolent shadow spreads across the Celestial Heavens.
That which should not happen, happened.
He Who Should Not Be Named has returned.
Fu Leng, the corrupted child of the gods, now lays siege to heaven itself. Armies of demons, monsters, and the souls of the corrupted fight beside him, overwhelming Heaven's defenders. The gods and Fortunes know that they cannot defeat the Dark Kami, not while their mortal worshipers remain in a state of chaos and confusion. Rokugan needs an Emperor, or the Celestial Heavens will surely be destroyed.
And in the mortal realm, the Four Winds turn on one another more viciously than before. Kaneka and Naseru enter into open war with one another, while Tsudao treads dangerous ground with the unpredictable Wolf. Only one can stand as Emperor, but now more than ever none seem likely to give.
Upon the Four Winds hangs the destiny of Heaven and Earth, and in the Shadowlands Daigotsu, the fifth true heir to the throne, laughs as his sinister plans come to fruition.
