Crane Clan Letter

My lord Kurohito-sama,

I wished to offer you my sincerest appreciation and gratitude for your recent hospitality in Toshi Ranbo. It is not often that my duties permit me to enjoy the capitol city so thoroughly, and I feel much refreshed from the visit. I particularly wished to thank you for your recommendations with regard to the many fine dining houses within the city. I visited each and every one, and I found them to be of exceptional quality. The cuisine was magnificent. As you suggested, however, there were many such houses, particularly in the northeastern portion of the city, where the food was prepared with far too much seasoning. I enjoy gaijin spices, especially pepper, quite thoroughly, but its use to excess can cause a most disagreeable reaction! I have inquired after the chefs at these houses to speak to them concerning this fact, but have as yet been unable to locate them. I expect to find them soon, however, and I will be certain to let you know when I have finished my discussions with them.

As you know, my lord, there has been difficulty to the west between the Lion and Unicorn. This is, of course, a great tragedy given our economic ties to the Unicorn and our recent, relative peace with the Lion. I know that many among our clan have great concern over the outcome of this conflict, and I wish to offer my services as an ambassador to the battlefront. My attendants and I could easily facilitate a resolution to this conflict. Discretion is of great importance to me, and I feel certain that my men and I could work toward a swift conclusion without exposing the Crane Clan's involvement as a whole.

I await your instructions, my lord.

Daidoji Kikaze
Lord of the Daidoji
