Mantis Clan Letter

Lord Suzume

I offer you my most sincere apologies regarding the death of your cousin, who perished recently at the helm of his small shipping vessel. As you know the seas are quite rough this time of year, and one can never predict when and where a storm will strike. During what must surely be a difficult time I can only offer my condolences, and my advice. Leave the seas to those who know them - should the Sparrow seek to ship their goods south again, either travel by road or rely upon Mantis merchants - our rates are quite reasonable, given the inherent dangers of the sea.

And lest this missive become altogether too gloomy with ill news, I have good news to offer as well. It seems that one of my vessels was in the area as your cousin's ship went down and though, sadly, they were unable t o save the crew they did indeed salvage his cargo of silks and fine sculpture bound for the Yasuki lands. We would be glad to return these items to you for a small finder's fee, or even transport them to their intended destination at our usual shipping rates of course.

Please let me know what you intend to do. I eagerly await the opportunity to do business with you.

Yoritomo Kumiko
Daughter of Storms
