You may find this message suspicious at first, given that my race has proven itself hostile toward your erstwhile human allies, but I plead you to hear me out. As a fellow being of great wisdom and power, I know you will weigh my words as they deserve.
Blood has come to the Shadowlands.
The City of the Lost has a new master, and Daigotsu has been banished from the nation of Tainted samurai he created. The Bloodspeaker, Iuchiban, has risen from his imprisonment and seeks to destroy the human Empire.
While this news may sound sweet to some among my brethren, there are those among us who are not so easily beguiled. A human who would destroy his own kind cannot be trusted. He will destroy us just as easily, and we must be prepared.
And yet this human is not like the others. While his physical form was bound for so long, his spirit gained the power to reach into and control dreams, a level of power that surpasses the wretched Kitsu family and may in fact rival those of our own race and your shamans.
What I propose is an alliance - not that we unify in combat against the Bloodspeakers for that would be premature, but that we share knowledge with one another. I propose that we explore the extent of Iuchiban's power so that we might be better able to gauge the threat he poses to our respective races.
And perhaps, if we feel that we are sufficiently prepared to deal with the threat he poses, we shall allow him to wipe out the rest of his race and re-inherit the land that is ours. I know that your people still maintain some loyalties to the Crab Clan - perhaps we can allow them to be saved. These terms are yet negotiable.
