THE DRUMS OF WAR...

War once again descends upon the Empire of Rokugan. The Dragon Clan, denied their destiny of Enlightenment, march against the Crane, who they decry as nothing more than charlatans. The Lion answer the call of their Crane allies and rush to their aid, eager to prove themselves following their recent defeat at the hands of the Unicorn.

The Scorpion strike a dark bargain with the Lost, accepting not only an ambassador but also the Prcelain Mask of Fu Leng as a tribute. The Crab view this cooperation as a dangerous act of compromise, and previously strained relations between the two clans reach the breaking point.

The Phoenix and the Mantis continue their conflict, while the Unicorn exult in both their victory over the Lion, and the fact that one of their young shugenja captured the Topaz championship. Frenzied with victory and ambition, the Khan eyes more of the Empire.

And the Emperor? He has been in seclusion since the petition of the Lost. None but his closest advisors know of his intentions. How long can the Empire survive without strong leadership when beat the drums of war?

Dragon Clan Deck

"The Crane's riches are surpassed only by their arrogance." -Mirumoto Hirohisa

The Dragon
The Dragon believed it their destiny to lead the Empire along the path to Enlightenment. After ten centuries of desperate soul-searching, the Dragon's birthright was stolen away by Asahina Sekawa of the Crane. Outraged at this cruel twist of fate, many of the clan's peaceful monks have been incensed to a mindless fury. The Dragon march to war against the Crane pretenders, asserting that Enlightenment cannot be "found" - It must be earned through desciplined study, meditation, and focus.

Lion Clan Deck

"Enough of your endless debating! We are Lion. Charge their center!" -Matsu Yoshino

The Lion
Matsu Yoshino's ferocity and cunning pile victory and glory upon the Lion clan. Despite Yoshino's youth, his leadership has led to crushing victories over those who stand against him. The acting leader of the Lion clan, Ikoma Otemi, watches with approval, sensing that the time will soon come when he can pass the mantle of leadership. Their forces still face continual boarder skirmishes with the Unicorn but the bulk of the Lion march North, with their Crane allies, to make war with the Dragon.

Unicorn Clan Deck

"The Khan has led us to a great victory, and he will not rest until the sons of Shinjo ride across the whole of Rokugan." -Moto Kang

The Unicorn
The most powerful army in the Empire does not march under the banner of the Lion, Crab or Crane. Its soldiers carry the banner of the ancient ki-rin, the mighty Unicorn. Few dare oppose their forces, wherever they venture in Rokugan, and the clan is poised to fortify their primacy and exert their recently proven power throughout the Empire. To destroy an opposing army, to sack a helpless city, and to know that all fear the might of the Unicorn - such is the taste of victory!
