Although the flavor text on this card is a Nimuro quote relevant to the depicted scene, there are some curious alterations to his signature armor design.
He isn't carrying his daisho, so maybe that's his fancy formal outfit? Or maybe he's trying to look vulnerable in an attempt to lure some Crane Clan Courtiers into a courtyard brawl? Or maybe he just woke up and he's still wearing the Ancestral Pajama Armor of Lion Clan? Or maybe his real armor is still in the shop from the last time some angsty Phoenix kid set Nimuro on fire?
Or maybe the Lion Clan Champion owns more than one set of armor. After all, the Lion Clan Champion is the Clan Champion of all the Lion Clans in all the Lion Clan Provinces in all of Rokugan! That's gotta be worth at least three different custom tailored suits. The real question is, why you gotta hate on the man's style?
To clear up this imaginary controversy once and for all, i asked Beth Trott if she'd mind taking a look and telling me if she really had meant to depict Nimuro there. Here is her reply, word for word:
"That piece was from a few years ago but I do remember using a piece of reference art for him while the Crane in the picture were unidentified. I'm 99% sure that was supposed to be Nimuro." -- Beth Trott
There you have it, folks. Finally we can lay this deeply divisive, distressingly disruptive debate to rest, and move on with our lives.
